The Microsoft Forefront Team announced via blog post earlier this morning that Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 (FEP) has been released to manufacturing.
I recently chatted with Adwait Joshi, Microsoft senior technical product manager on the Forefront team,and asked him what the most commonly-requested new features were from customers that would be incorporated into FEP 2010. "The top three were improved firewall management, improved migration, and improved performance," Joshi said. "On the performance front we've given IT admins more options to tailor the performance of the software for their own environments, including CPU throttling and other performance features."
Microsoft has been working to bridge the gap between systems management and endpoint security, and the Redmond-based software giant now claims that the release of FEP 2010 brings that vision one step closer to reality.

Customers using System Center Configuration Manager 2007 can now quickly and efficiently deploy, configure, manage, update, and report on FEP protections, helping to lower infrastructure costs and improve overall security. And since both products are included in the Enterprise CAL (ECAL), customers who purchase ECAL automatically get access to all the licenses they need to implement the solution.
