DotNetNuke Acquires iFinity, Adding URL Management Technology to DNN

DotNetNuke, provider of the popular DotNetNuke (DNN) content management platform for .NET websites, has acquired iFinity, a provider of DNN extensions including the Url Master module. Bruce Chapman, owner of iFinity, will join DotNetNuke as a full-time member of its product team. The acquisition comes on the heels of the release of DNN 7.0 in late November 2012.

The Url Master technology, which will be integrated into the next major DNN release, helps improve a website's search engine optimization (SEO) and makes URLs easier to manage through features such as instant conversion of URLs on DNN pages to human-friendly URLs, the ability to create custom SEO URLs for DNN web pages, elimination of duplicate content in search engines through automatic 301 redirects, and per-portal handling of 404 errors with customized 404 pages.

iFinity and DotNetNuke principals endorsed the acquisition. "Today's announcement is a validation of my strong belief in the DNN platform," said Bruce Chapman, owner of iFinity. And from Shaun Walker, co-founder and CTO of DotNetNuke: "Bruce has been an advocate for DNN for many years -- a voice of intelligence and passion for the same beliefs that we have here. We are excited to have Bruce on board and to be able to quickly leverage the URL Master technology to provide features that address many of our customers' most important needs."

Current iFinity customers will continue to receive support for iFinity products, either through the DotNetNuke store help desk system or through the product support forums. Existing customers will continue to receive the level of support their license currently provides.
