JSI Tip 4827. How can I use the Autologon feature in the Remote Desktop Connection?

When you use the Remote Desktop Connection, mstsc.exe, you normally provide your credentials.

To automate the logon:

01. Start / Run / MMC.exe / OK.

02. On the File menu, press Add/Remove Snap-in.

03. Press Add.

04. Select Group Policy and press Add.

05. Using the default Local Computer, press Finish.

06. Press Close and OK.

07. Navigate to Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Terminal Services / Encryption and Security.

08. Double-click Always prompt client for password upon connection and Disable the policy.

09. If you want to save this Local Computer Policy as a custom snap-in, use Save As on the Console menu.

10. Open Remote Desktop Connection and press Options. On the General tab, enter the credentials, insuring that the password is 15 characters or less.
