Telerik Upgrades Announced
Telerik announced the Q3 2008 release of its RadControls UI components and Report designer.
RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX. RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX now works in the new Microsoft ASP.NET MVC Framework. Telerik improved the usability experience and the client-side behavior of the RadGrid and RadScheduler components. Because of integration with the newly-acquired OpenAccess ORM, important data access capabilities were delivered to all databound controls.
OpenAccess ORM. Telerik recently acquired the ORM product OpenAccess. Supporting both forward and reverse mapping, OpenAccess offers transparent persistence for your DAL and business objects. OpenAccess ORM provides Visual Studio integration and allows you to create database-independent code. Multi-level caching and fetch plans deliver performance optimizations.
RadControls for Silverlight. Telerik officially presents RadControls for Silverlight, a set of components for next-generation RIA and line-of-business applications. Running against Microsoft Silverlight 2 RTW, the suite will help you deliver interactive and responsive Web applications. RadControls for Silverlight are stylable through Microsoft Expression Blend. With its interoperability with ASP.NET AJAX, RadControls for Silverlight also can be used to enhance existing Web applications. RadControls for Silverlight also share the same codebase and API with RadControls for WPF.
RadControls for WPF. RadControls for WPF concentrates on data visualization and interactivity by introducing stylable charting, gauge, and scheduling controls.
RadControls for WinForms. The axis of the new release is the new RadScheduler control, which offers Outlook-style functionality, simplified deployment, and limitless customization capabilities.
RadGridView now has Multi-Row Header Views, which deliver pivot-like data presentation. The theming mechanism now offers Themes Color Blending, which can create color variations of existing themes.
Telerik Reporting. Telerik Reporting offers a new report rendering engine, which allows for report generation, allocation of server resources, and optimized report layout management. The Project Upgrade Wizard is now available, as well, and supports all previous and future versions of Telerik Reporting.
Pricing and Availability. The price of the Premium Collection for .NET Bundle (including all suites + Reporting + OpenAccess ORM) is US$1,299 per developer seat. The license comes with Priority Support, full C# source code, redistribution rights, and free updates for the latest products for one year. The tools work without license keys and can be freely deployed on an unlimited number of development, testing, and production servers. A step-by-step self-paced tutorial and code samples are provided. Available separately are:
