asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards 2007

By David Riggs

From American Idol to Dancing with the Stars, everyone seems to have a results show on television these days. Oh, the drama. Making us wait a day after the performances to find out who stays and who goes home. Sitting through playbacks of the best and worst performances. Commercial breaks just when you think you ll find out who s in and who s out. Snippy comments from the judges and contestants, alike. I guess it makes for good ratings.

But this isn t television. So, without the drama, and without having to endure any singing or dancing, this is our version of the asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards results show. Hopefully you exercised your right to vote in our annual Readers Choice Awards balloting. You are, after all, our distinguished panel of judges. It was your chance to vote for the products and services that make your ASP.NET development easier, more efficient, and more profitable maybe even more fun. There are many exceptionally talented people in this industry; this was your opportunity to show them your appreciation and recognition for a job well done.

There were repeat winners, new winners, and a couple of dominant companies. And we expanded our results table by adding an honorable mention column to provide more depth and insight into the spectrum of winners.

So, without the fanfare, without the commercial breaks, without the drama ... we present the results of the 2007 asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards.

Product of the Year

With a variety of products and services from which to choose, it takes quite a following to take top honors in this category. Emerging as your favorite from all the contestants on this year s asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards ballot is AbleCommerce Asp.Net Shopping Cart. Runner-up honors go to DXperience ASP.NET, and DiscountASP.NET receives honorable mention.

Congratulations and Thanks

I d like to thank all the third-party vendors who create the products and services included in our survey. The products they create and the risks they take to bring them to market are what these awards are all about. Their efforts make our ASP.NET development efforts more efficient, more productive, and, hopefully, more profitable. Congratulations to every company on the ballot; there would be no ASP.NET community without their efforts.

And I d be remiss if I didn t extend my thanks to all of you in the ASP.NET community who took time to vote. The asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards really do belong to you. By selecting the winners, you have recognized those who have excelled at their craft and issued a challenge to all the others.
