Altova Introduces DatabaseSpy 2007
Altova announced the availability of DatabaseSpy 2007, a multi-database data management, query, and design tool that connects to all major databases. DatabaseSpy provides database administrators, developers, and database-oriented IT managers with an array of features designed to save time and ensure accuracy. Chief among them is its ability to interact with multiple databases of different types.
DatabaseSpy capitalizes on an interface that simplifies querying, visualizing, managing, designing, and constructing relational databases. Key features include a built-in SQL editor, database design editor, database project manager, and SQL preview function.
For ASP.NET developers who have limited experience working with database applications, but are required to do so on specific Web services and application development projects, DatabaseSpy provides a more intuitive and user-friendly interface for connecting to any relational database, regardless of their experience with the database type.
DatabaseSpy is designed to connect to the following database types: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005, Microsoft Access 2003, Oracle 9i and 10g, IBM DB2 8.x and 9, MySQL 4.x and 5.x, and Sybase 11. Additionally, DatabaseSpy is designed to operate with any database that uses an ADO or ODBC connection. Other key features of DatabaseSpy include: a quick connect wizard, a built-in SQL editor, a database design editor, a SQL preview function, a database project manager, export and import functions, and embedded database access.
Because many databases were not developed with XML compatibility in mind, DatabaseSpy provides capabilities that will help users migrate existing database content for use in XML-based applications. In addition to exporting databases to XML files, DatabaseSpy can export database tables directly into Altova XMLSpy.
