Neil's IT/Dev Connection sessions:

Recently, we asked Neil to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:

ITDC: Give us a brief introduction to you.

Neil: Neil Peterson, content development with Microsoft.

ITDC: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.

Neil: I am presenting two sessions on Docker. While this is very new tech, it is gaining momentum and will continue to become a much bigger deal going forward. I will also be giving a talk on complete application deployments in Azure using Azure Resource Manager templates.

ITDC: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?

Neil: I will demystify Docker, containers, and why this tech is becoming a big deal. Additionally, attendees will see quite a bit of in-depth use of the Docker tech. Attendees of the Azure Resource Manager session will gain practical tips and trick for building and deploying complete solutions in Azure using Resource Manager templates.

ITDC: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT/Dev Connections?

Neil: I’ve been plugged in with this community for a long time (early MMS). This conference like no other has captured the feel and high tech bar of my early years in conferencing.

ITDC: What is the one key technology you believe is changing the technology industry right now?

Neil: There is allot going on with datacenter tech these days. At the top of the hill, I believe HTTP REST web services is driving the disruption. On top of this containers, distributed applications, and new generation application architecture are dramatically changing the architectural landscape.

ITDC: Assuming attendees want to know, what’s your favorite, non-technical hobby or pastime? What’s one thing that totally irks you.

Neil: I spend most of my free time parenting my two children, however before then I was into competitive skydiving. These days I get a bit of excitement snowboarding in Snoqualmie WA.
