5 SharePoint Answers: Jason Himmelstein on Hybrid Administration, BI, and More

Preview of 2014 IT/Dev Connections Conference

We wanted to know what SharePoint expert Jason Himmelstein would say in answer to these 5 questions. Here are the results!

#1: What do you think is challenging and/or important for people to learn about SharePoint/Office 365?

How we manage our environments with a hybrid focused is the next logical evolution of the SharePoint admin's world. Oh... and business intelligence is where the sizzle is in SharePoint, so knowing how to empower users to utilize the new BI capabilities is not only exciting and cool, but it opens up an entirely new space where admins will thrive.

#2: What advice would you give new attendees for getting the most out of a tech conference?

Pick half of your schedule as something that you know will apply to your world; for 1/4 of the sessions pick something new that you want to learn; and for the last 1/4 of the sessions go off the wall and go to a different track all together.  IT/Dev Connections is a great place to broaden your horizons.

#3: What do you drink at SharePint?

Scotch... unless there is a really good IPA... then Scotch after that.

#4: What are you most looking forward to at September’s IT/Dev Connections?

Interacting with the attendees. IT/Dev Connections always attracts great technical attendees who come with great questions and spark lively dialog during sessions as well as great discussions over a beverage after the sessions are over for the day.

#5: Give us the “elevator pitch” about your presentations--what are you going to talk about?

I am presenting SharePoint 2013 Admin in a Hybrid World and Business Intelligence in SharePoint 2013. It's an exciting and scary time for IT pros in the SharePoint space as we start to broaden our horizons and look beyond just the SharePoint on-prem world.
