If you’re running SharePoint Online rather than SharePoint Server 2013, you might not have known about a Web Part you were missing. But now the Taxonomy Refinement Panel Web Part is coming to SharePoint Online. Along with it comes faceted navigation.
The Taxonomy Refinement Panel Web Part “filters search results from an associated Search Web Part, which show refiners based on the current navigation term,” writes Bella Engen in the SharePoint IT Pro Blog post “
Stage 16: Add a Taxonomy Refinement Panel Web Part to a publishing site.” Faceted navigation lets visitors narrow down the content that’s displayed on a page by applying multiple filters.
The Web Part and faceted navigation features are available for private site collections in the Office 365 Enterprise E3 and Office 365 Enterprise E4 plans, as well as Office 365 Government G3 and G4, Office 365 Education A3 and A4, and Office 365 E3 for nonprofits.
