A. When you try to map a drive via an IP address, you might receive the following error message:
System error 53 has occurred.<br>
This error occurs when you try to map a drive to a server running one of the following applications:
- IBM OS/2 1.3
- LAN Manager 2.2
- Microsoft Net Server 1.11
- Hewlett-Packard UNIX LAN Manager X
To resolve this problem, use the server's NetBIOS name to map the drive:
- Start Windows Explorer.
- From the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive.
- In the Drive box, click the drive letter you want to use.
- In the Folder box, type
\\\[server\]\\[share\]<br>
where \[server\] is the NetBIOS name of the server to which you want to connect and \[share\] is the name of a shared folder on that server. - Click Finish.
