System Center Updates Publisher 2011 released

System Center Updates Publisher 2011, which allows ConfigMgr administrators to define updates from third party organizations and publish has been released for download.

Updates Publisher allows ConfigMgr administrators to do the following:

  • Import software updates from catalogs created by 3rd party organizations
  • Create and modify software update definitions
  • Create applicability and deployment metadata for software updates

  • Updates Publisher 2011 has the following new features:
    • A better user interface.
    • Automatic publication types. This allows Updates Publisher 2011 to check with ConfigMgr to determine whether the selected software update or software update bundle is published with fully or only as metadata.
    • Software Update Cleanup Wizard:  Expire software updates on the update server.
    • Software Update bundles
    • Prerequisite and superseded updates as part of a software update definition
