If you use Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 2000 and store the Favorites folder on a network share that is Offline Available, adding a file to the Favorites folder when the network is unavailable will reset the Favorites menu to point to %SystemRoot%\Favorites.
To fix the Favorites menu:
1. Open a CMD.EXE window.
2. Using REG.EXE installed from the Windows 2000 Support Tools, type the following command and press Enter:
reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" /V Favorites /T REG_EXPAND_SZ /F /D ""%""USERPROFILE""%""\Favorites""
3. Exit all instances of Internet Explorer 6.
4. Open Internet Explorer 6.
