Q. GPO Reporting tools show differences between polices when Internet Explorer 7 is installed versus earlier version of Internet Explorer?

Enhancements to Group Policy in Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP and Windows Vista cause GPO Reporting tools to show some policies that where applied in earlier versions of Internet Explorer to show as disabled.

Disable AutoComplete for forms and Turn on the auto-complete feature for user names and passwords on forms were created for earlier versions of Internet Explorer. When these polices are applied to a computer running Internet Explorer 7 the GPO Reporting tools show them as disabled.

Disable changing home page settings, Disable configuring history, and Check for signatures on downloaded programs when applied to earlier versions have extra registry keys. You can specify values for these extra keys in Internet Explorer 7, but the values remain blank.
