Popularity of Flat Panels Soars

Thin is in. For the first time this year, LCD sales are expected to surpass sales of CRT computer monitors, according to research firm IDC. A surplus of LCDs has helped reduce the price of the flat-panel displays. Prices are expected to continue to steadily decline, according to researchers, who predict that 17" LCDs will dominate the market by next year.

IDC also predicts that by 2007, LCDs will completely replace CRTs in developed countries, with only less-developed countries primarily purchasing CRTs. Here's to more desk room! Hooray!
