JSI Tip 9118. Your multi-homed RIS server does NOT answer all clients?

NOTE: a multi-homed server has multiple network adaptors, or multiple static IP address on a single network adapter.

In addition to the subject behavior, you receive an error message similar to the following on PXE (Pre-Boot Execution Environment) clients that are running Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000:

DHCP 
No reply from a server 
Press any key to reboot system

NOTE: Your error messages may differ and you may receive additional errors.

For a multi-home RIS server to work, you need:

• The DCHP Server service installed on the RIS server.

• The DHCP server must have Scopes defined.

• The DHCP server scopes must be active.
