This problem occurs because of virtual memory fragmentation.
To workaround this problem, stop and restart the World Wide Web Publishing service.
NOTE: Microsoft has a hotfix, 820745 Failfast occurs when you experience an "out of memory" condition, to correct his problem. After installing the hotfix, apply the following GCFailFastOnOOM.REG file:
REGEDIT4
\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\]
"GCFailFastOnOOM"=dword:00000001
If an out of memory condition occurs, an event with the following description is logged, but a new process is automatically started for the next user request. No action on your part is required.
Failed to allocate nnnn bytes with NNNN bytes in use and #### free bytes. Process will be Terminated
