JSI Tip 8267. Systems Management Server 2003 software distribution packages are NOT displayed in the Windows 2000 Add/Remove programs applet?

When you attempt to install SMS 2003 Advanced client software on Windows 2000, the SMS software distribution packages do NOT display in Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet. The All Categories list in Add New Programs displays No programs are available on the network.

This behavior will occur if the Windows 2000 computer is NOT running SP2 or later.

I recommend that you apply the latest Windows 2000 service pack, but at least SP2.

NOTE: You could try to copy Appwiz.cpl from a SP2 or later computer to %SystemRoot%\System32.
