JSI Tip 7696. When you use the Windows Journal Viewer to open a note, handwritten written notes may not appear, or the entire note appears empty?

When you use Jntview.exe, on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, handwritten notes may not appear, or the entire note may be blank. When you open the same note on a Windows XP Tablet PC, the handwritten content is properly displayed.

To resolve this problem:

1. Close the Microsoft Journal Viewer.

2. Open a CMD.EXE prompt.

3. Type the following lines, pressing Enter after each:

CD /D %SystemRoot%\System32
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

4. If you receive a success message, try opening the note in the Microsoft Journal Viewer. If the problem is resolved, exit this procedure.

5. Close the Microsoft Journal Viewer.

6. Use SFC /Scannow to see if it will replace the file.

7. If you can see the handwritten note in the Journal file, exit this procedure.

8. Close the Microsoft Journal Viewer.

9. Install the most recent Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack to replace the msxml3.dll file.
