JSI Tip 7577. Winmgmt.exe uses more CPU cycles than you would expect?

When you review the process activity on the Processes tab of Task Manager, you are surprised by the number of CPU cycles that Winmgmt.exe (Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)) is consuming.

This issue can occur if WMI is using verbose logging.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Start / Run / wmimgmt.msc / OK.

2. Right-click WMI Control (Local) and press Properties.

3. Select the Logging tab.

4. Check the Errors only radial button.

5. Press Apply and OK.
