When you install Windows 2000 on a client using RIS (Remote Installation Service), the client hangs at the end of the text-mode portion of Setup.
This behavior will occur if the server is no longer available, because the client keeps an open handle to Ntdll.dll, Smss.exe, and Kbdus.dll until the text-mode portion of Setup is complete.
To workaround this behavior, make sure that the server is available until the text-mode portion of Setup is complete.
