JSI Tip 7186. Windows 2000 no longer prints to a HP LaserJet 4 or HP LaserJet 5?

When you try to print to a HP LaserJet 4, or HP LaserJet 5, from Windows 2000, you experience one or more of the following:

- The print job is stuck in the queue and NOT printed.

- The Spooler service may stop responding (hangs), and one of the following errors is recorded in the application event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2510
Date: MM/DD/YYYY
Time: HH:MM:SS PM
User: N/A
Computer: <ComputerName>
Description: The server service was unable to map error code 1722.

- A BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) STOP 0x000000E3 occurs.

The above behaviors are symptomatic of a corrupted printer driver.

To resolve this problem, reinstall the printer drivers for the HP LaserJet 4 or the HP LaserJet 5 from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM.
