JSI Tip 6599. The Internet Explorer Print and Edit / Find dialog boxes do not open?

When you use Print, or Print Preview, or Find on the Edit menu, the dialog boxes do not open.
You cannot open a link in a new window.
You cannot use Start / Search to search for files.
When you open Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services, you receive:

The server catalog version is not supported. The catalog is either newer or older than this application and a common version for communication does not exist.

A 3rd party registry Value Name is corrupted. It may have been corrupted some time ago, but recent activity has caused the problem to surface.

To fix this problem:

1. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to:


2. You should see a InprocServer32 Value Name in the right-hand pane that contains an unreadable string of alpha and extended characters.

4. Delete the InprocServer32 Value Name, NOT the InprocServer32 key.

5. Exit the Registry Editor.

NOTE: If the problem persists, restart your computer.
