JSI Tip 6548. Computers that have removeable disk device controllers may take a long time to resume from standby?

If you have removable disk device controllers, including CardBus and Memory Stick, your computer may take a long time to resume from standby if there is a disk in the controller.

If you have a paging file defined on the disk, the ATAPI.SYS driver must wait for the devices that hold paging files to become available, as Windows requires immediate access to paging file contents when it resumes from standby.

NOTE: When resuming from standby, the driver does NOT have to wait for disk devices that don't contain a paging file.
