When you start Internet Explorer, you receive an error message and the program quits.
Windows XPInternet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When you press Click here, you see that mfc42.dll caused the problem.
Windows 2000Iexplore.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
When you inspect the Drwtsn32.log, located at %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\DrWatson by default, you see that mfc42.dll caused the problem.
Windows NT 4.0An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.
Exception: access violation (address:xxxxxxxx)
A 3rd party browser extension, like Xupitor, can cause this problem.
To determine if it is a 3rd party browser extension, use the steps for your operating system that are similar to:
1. Open Control Panel / Internet Options.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Under the Browsing category, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) box.
4. Press Apply and OK.
5. Shutdown and restart Windows.
If the problem is resolved, locate the offending application and uninstall it, or visit the vendors' site to look for an update.
