JSI Tip 6236. Freeware WinPopUp replacement for those who 'must' have a 'net send' GUI.


Download WinSent, if you 'must' have a GUI for sending and receiving network messages.

The readme file contains:


WinSent is a program that allow you send and receive messages across local network.
 It works over any network protocol (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBIOS) and does not require dedicated server.
 WinSent is fully compatible with WinPopup and Windows NT Messenger Service, i.e. allows to receive messages from it and
 to send messages to it.

System Requirement
- Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000/XP or higher
- About 400 Kb of disk space

Extract contents of winsent*.zip into directory you like and run winsent.exe. 
Important note:
If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP then you need to disable Messenger Service. 
Open Control Panel->Administartive Tool->Services. Find Messenger Service. Open its properties windows.
 Select Manual from Startup type list. Then press Stop button. Press OK button.
