JSI Tip 6232. How do I migrate my Custom Colors and Patterns to other users / computers?

To preserve the work that went into creating your Custom Colors and Patters:

1. Start / Run / regedit.exe /a <Drive:>\Folder\CustomColors.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Custom Colors" / OK.

2. Start / Run / regedit.exe /a <Drive:>\Folder\Patterns.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Patterns"/ OK.

3. Share Folder with access for Everyone.

To set a users Custom Colors and Patterns:

1. Log onto any Windows NT 5+ computer as the user.

2. Start / Run / regedit.exe /s \\YourComputer\Folder\CustomColors.reg / OK.

3. Start / Run / regedit.exe /s \\YourComputer\Folder\Patterns.reg / OK.

NOTE: You could use ModifyProfile to apply these .REG files.

NOTE: To set these Custom Colors and Patterns for new users:

1. Open a CMD prompt.

2. Copy <Drive:>\Folder\CustomColors.reg <Drive:>\Folder\DefaultCustomColors.reg

3. Copy <Drive:>\Folder\Patterns.reg <Drive:>\Folder\DefaultPatterns.reg

4. Open <Drive:>\Folder\DefaultCustomColors.reg in Notepad.exe.

5. Replace each occurrence of HKEY_CURRENT_USER with HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and save the file.

6. Open <Drive:>\Folder\DefaultPatterns.reg in Notepad.exe.

7. Replace each occurrence of HKEY_CURRENT_USER with HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and save the file.

8. Use tip 4195 to run the following script on all computers:

@echo off
regedit.exe /s \\YourComputer\Folder\DefaultCustomColors.reg
regedit.exe /s \\YourComputer\Folder\DefaultPatterns.reg
