JSI Tip 5756. How do I prevent a user from using the Shift key to disable automatic logon?

If you configured your Windows computer to automatically logon, users can invoke the logon dialog box by holding down the shift key until the logon window appears.

To prevent the Shift key from invoking the logon dialog box:

1. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

2. Add Value Name IgnoreShiftOverride, a string (REG_SZ) data type, and set the data value to 1.
