JSI Tip 5265. How can I prevent Shared Documents and My Documents from appearing in My Computer?

Windows XP introduces a Shared Documents folder, that may appear in My Computer. Shared Documents is just an alias for C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents.

If you wish to remove the link to Shared Documents documents in My Computer, and the link to My Documents that appears in the same area:

1. Copy / paste the following to a <Folder_Path>\SharedDocuments.reg file:

REGEDIT4

\[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\\{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee\}\]

2. Run regedit /s <Folder_Path>\SharedDocuments.reg.
