JSI Tip 5091. You experience significant frame loss and/or video/audio synchronization problems when playing DVD?

If your DVD playback performance is poor, with significant frame loss and/or video and audio synchronization problems, your DVD drive may be set to PIO mode, instead of DMA mode.

PIO mode consumes more CPU resources and transfers data more slowly that DMA mode. See:

How do I check/set DMA Transfer Mode in Windows 2000?.

NOTE: DVD playback performance is also impacted by CPU speed, the amount of RAM, your video adapter, video resolution, your sound card, device drivers for these devices, and the software or hardware decoder you use.
