JSI Tip 4979. Another way to disable the 'Getting Started with Windows 2000' dialog box.

We described one method of disabling the Getting Started with Windows 2000 dialog in tip 2601.

To disable the Getting Started with Windows 2000 dialog:

01. Use Regedt32 to select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine Windows.

02. On the Registry menu, press Load Hive.

03. Navigate to the default user profile, \Documents and Settings\Default User, and select the Ntuser.dat file. Press Open.

04. Enter AAAA in the Key Name box and press OK.

05. Double-click the AAAA hive and navigate to AAAA\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer\Tips.

06. Double-click the Show Value Name, a REG_DWORD data type, and set the data value to 0.

 07. Press OK.

08. Select (highlight) the AAAA hive.

09. On the Registry menu, press Unload Hive.

10. Press Yes to confirm the unload.

11. Exit Regedt32.
