JSI Tip 4437. Do NOT use Windows Explorer to Eject a disk from a library?

Windows Explorer supports the Eject command for removable media devices.

If you use the Eject command on a library, Removable Storage Manager (RSM) may no longer be able to move media in the RSM media library.

RSM must be used to manage media in a library (multiple removable media device).

If you used Windows Explorer to Eject media in one of these devices, replace the media and do a Full Inventory of the library:

1. In RSM, expand the Physical Locations folder.

2. Right-click the library and press Properties.

3. Change the inventory method to Full.

4. Press OK

5. Right-click the library and press Inventory.
