JSI Tip 4269. My computer won't start using any Safe mode?

If your computer won't start using any Safe mode, it is likely that:

. A mass storage driver (SCSI or IDE) is damaged or missing.

. The Ntoskrnl.exe or Hal.dll is damaged or missing.

. Some program replaced critical system files.

If this happens to you, use the Recovery Console to replace or rename system files and drivers, and /or to disable or enable a service.

If this doesn't work, see tip 3200 » How do I recover Windows 2000?

NOTE: See tip 2615 » The SET command in the Windows 2000 Recovery Console.
