JSI Tip 3826. When you install a program on Windows 2000, you receive: 'File Oleaut32.dll Is Out of Date'?

When you install a Visual Basic program on Windows 2000, you receive:

The file Oleaut32.dll is out of date. Restart so Windows can update this file.

A restart does NOT solve the problem.

This error occurs if the version of Oleaut32.dll in the Setup package is later than the installed version.

The solution is to perform both of the following:

1. Install a Windows 2000 Service Pack. SP1 will work, but I suggest the latest Service Pack.

2. Use Windows Update to apply Critical Updates.
