JSI Tip 3656. How do I prevent the comprehensive search for a broken shortcut target?

In tip 3649, I described how the NoResolveTrack value name could disable NTFS link tracking.

If you don't disable NTFS link tracking, you can disable the final comprehensive search for the target by implementing the Do not use the search-based method when resolving shell shortcuts Group Policy at User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar.

If the policy is Not configured, you can implement it by setting the NoResolveSearch value name, a REG_DWORD data type, to 1, at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.

If your shortcuts attempt to resolve to another computer, see the LinkResolveIgnoreLinkInfo value name.
