If you allow setup to create a partition that uses the remaining space on the disk drive, the maximum space is NOT used?

Setup reserves some space at the end of the disk, for Dynamic disk information, in case you deside to upgrade from Basic to Dynamic disk.

Setup will reserve the greater of 1 megabyte or 1 cylinder. A cylinder varies in size, based upon the drives geometry and translation.
