If you uninstall (Add/Remove Programs) a 3rd party audio CD player, you may receive Access to specified device, path or file is denied when you insert an audio CD.
Add/Remove Programs does not replace the path to the standard CD player program.
To fix the problem:
01. Open the hidden %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf file in Notepad.
02. Locate the old base components comment and change the following:
AccessUtil=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,accessor.inf,HIDE,7
MultiM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,multimed.inf,HIDE,7
to
AccessUtil=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,accessor.inf,7
MultiM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,multimed.inf,7
03. Save and close the %SystemRoot%\Inf\Sysoc.inf file.
04. Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / Add/Remove Windows Components / Accessories and Utilities / Details.
05. Clear the Multimedia check box and press OK.
06. Press Next and insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM if prompted.
07. Press Finish and exit Control Panel.
08. Restart your computer to uninstall the Multimedia component.
09. Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / Add/Remove Windows Components / Accessories and Utilities / Details.
10. Check the Multimedia check box and press OK.
11. Press Next and insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM if prompted.
12. Press Finish and exit Control Panel.
13. Restart your computer to reinstall the Multimedia component.
