JSI Tip 2456. When you start Licensing from the Administrative Tools menu on your Windows 2000 Server, you get an error?

When you start the Licensing tool in Administrative Tools, you receive:

To open Licensing, you must be an administrator of the domain on which license information is stored for your network.

If you are the server's administrator, use the Licensing option in Control Panel to manage Licensing on this server.

You have more than one protocol and the binding order is wrong.

To fix the problem, make the LAN the primary connection and TCP/IP the primary protocol:

1. Control Panel / Network and Dial-up Connections.

2. Press Advanced Settings on the Advanced menu.

3. Press Local Area Connection in the Connections box and move it to the top of the list.

4. Press Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the Files and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks section and move it to the top of the list.

5. Press OK.

6. Restart your computer.
