JSI Tip 2301. How to change the IE 4.0 - IE 4.01 default AutoSearch engine?

When you type ? JSI, Inc. or Find JSI, Inc. or Go JSI, Inc. into the address box of the IE 4.0 - IE 4.01 browser, running on your Windows NT 4.0 platform, the AutoSearch uses a default random search engine to perform your query.

You can alter which search engine is used by using Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl

NOTE: You must first exit all instances of Internet Explorer.

Double-click the <No Name> string in the right hand pane and change the default string value from http://home.microsoft.com/access/autosearch.asp?p=%s to one of the following:

 AltaVista   http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?q=%s
