JSI Tip 2186. How do you set the path of the Windows 2000 local default profile?

In Windows NT 4.0, you could not change the local default profile path. It is stored at %SytemRoot%\Profiles\Default User.

In Windows 2000, the default user profile path is controlled by two registry values, at key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

The DefaultUserProfile value name is string value (REG_SZ) that defaults to Default User.

The ProfilesDirectory value name is an expanding string value (REG_EXPAND_SZ) that defaults to %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings.
