When you try to view a MMC (Microsoft Management Console) snap-in, you receive:

This behavior occurs when WEPOS (Windows Embedded for Point of Service) is installed and SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine SP3a has been upgraded to SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine SP4 because of an error in the installer that erroneously deleted the %Windir%\System32\Atl.dll file.
NOTE: WFP (Windows File Protection) is NOT iinstalled when WEPOS is installed.
To resolve this behavior:
1. Press Start and Run.
2. Type Copy C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.tools.visualcplusplus.runtime-libraries_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.0.0_x-ww_ff9986d7\atl.dll %windir%\system32\
3. Press OK.
