How can I use Windows Live OneCare to check my system status?

A. When you use the Windows Live OneCare service, an icon in the notification tray will appear either red (computer is at risk), orange (status fair but requires some actions) or green (good), as the figure shows.

If you double-click the OneCare icon, the main management interface will launch and display any items that you need to address. Or you can trigger manual actions such as an antivirus or spyware scan, as the figure shows.

You can click "View or change settings" in the left pane under "Other Tasks" to configure options such as how often to run the system tune-up; set backup prompts; enable antivirus, antispyware, and firewall functionality; and set logging options.
