- Choose File → Properties.
Enter appropriate properties in the Properties dialog box.
- Some properties will be filled in automatically by Word. You can replace the default properties that appear.
- Click the Custom tab for additional properties. You can also create your own custom file properties.
Microsoft Word allows you to specify that the Properties dialog box should appear each time you save a file, to remind you to enter properties.
- Choose Tools ? Options.
- Click the Save tab.
- Select Prompt for document properties.
You can also facilitate entering document properties by saving properties as part of your templates. It is recommended that you configure common properties, such as your name in the Author property, in the templates you use to create each new document. After entering properties in a template, those properties are automatically inherited by each document generated based on that template.
