The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) released its annual edition of "Five Technologies to Watch," a publication that highlights five technologies that are poised to shape the consumer-electronics industry next year. The publication discusses business models, consumer perspectives, market forecasts, partnerships, public policy, and other aspects of each technology. This year's edition comprises high-resolution audio, home operating systems, mobile gaming, digital video recording (DVR), and Wi-Fi and ultra wideband. "Five Technologies to Watch" points out applications of the five technologies to watch for: high-resolution audio that you can download and play over your main home audio system, a home operating system that controls temperature in distinct zones in the house, ultra wideband with speeds of 1GB per second, High-Definition Television (HDTV) camcorders that let you record and play back high-definition content, and wireless gaming decks.
