AutoCorrect and your dictionary

By default, AutoCorrect uses your dictionary to make corrections. If you make a typo, AutoCorrect may fix it by finding the correct spelling in the dictionary. Similarly, if you enter text that looks like a typo, but AutoCorrect sees it entered that way in your dictionary, it will not correct the text.

In other words, your dictionary becomes an extension of the Replace text as you type list.

This feature is generally desirable, but if you want to turn it off you can.

  1. Choose Tools → AutoCorrect Options.
  2. Click the AutoCorrect tab.
  3. Deselect Automatically use suggestions from the spelling checker.
