Amazon Releases a Management Pack for Microsoft System Center

Amazon understands the investment that large enterprises have made in Microsoft System Center because today they have announced a Management Pack that runs specifically on System Center Operations Manager 2012 and System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2.

If you attended MMS 2013, you may have wondered what the heck Amazon.com was doing there exhibiting and holding meetings. As many of you know, I have a long history with the Microsoft Management Summit, being an inaugural part of the event's inception. So, to me - someone who has been there since the very beginning - it's a bit strange to see a company like Amazon.com at a Microsoft event. Amazon.com to me, and to many others, is the premier shopping experience on the web. But, there's so much more to Amazon.com now, and it's sometimes hard to shake off the ecommerce typecasting.

Amazon.com is now a multi-faceted beast that has been spearheading, not only the eBook and consumer tablet generation but also the Cloud as a service in its Amazon Web Services (AWS). After MMS 2013, I think Amazon understands the investment that large enterprises have made in Microsoft System Center because today they have announced a Management Pack that runs specifically on System Center Operations Manager 2012 and System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2. As a System Center shop this provides the best of both worlds, and of course, it also helps Amazon keep the competition level high against Windows Azure and all of Microsoft's recent announcements for those technologies.

You can download the new Management Pack from Amazon's "System Center" link here:

https://aws.amazon.com/windows/system-center/

Included on the page are separate downloads for OpsMgr 2012 and 2007, a full description of what the Management Pack will do, and a bullet point FAQ to answer some of the questions you may already be accumulating in your analytical noggin.

Amazon has also released the following video. It will either excite you or bore you. Do me a favor and pay special attention to the speaker. He speaks so fast I almost need an interpreter.
