Microsoft Intune Keeps Its Monthly Update Cadence, New Features This Week

Microsoft is chugging along providing new features, improvements, and updates for its Cloud-based management system. Earlier this year, the company promised a new, monthly release cadence for the product, and this week is the mark for March's entry.

Some pretty significant new features will roll out as part of the March update, including further integration with Office Online products. Here's what you can expect in a few days (between March 4, 2015 and March 7, 2015).

  • Ability to restrict access to SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business based upon device enrollment and compliance policies
  • Management of OneDrive apps for iOS and Android devices
  • Ability for hybrid customers to create custom WiFi profiles with pre-shared keys for Android devices

There's more and a new blog post from the Microsoft Intune Team outlines all the updates here:

March updates coming this week to Microsoft Intune

Additionally, it should be noted that these updates are stand-alone improvements for Intune only and won't be available to System Center Configuration Manager customers for some time. Late in 2014, Microsoft migrated Intune to Azure to allow faster updates. Configuration Manager is still an on-premises product without the infrastructure to update as quickly, but that should change with an update rumored to release during the Windows 10 release timeframe.
