To have a program run ineractively, when it is triggered by a performance alert:
1. Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services.
2. Double-click Performance Logs and Alerts.
3. Select the Log On tab.
4. Check the Local System Account and Allow service to interact with Desktop boxes.
5. Press Apply.
6. Select the General tab.
7. Stop the service.
8. Start the service.
9. Use tip 3046 to set the alert.
NOTE: Make sure that the following services run as Local System Account with the Allow service to interact with Desktop boxes checked.
COM+ Event System
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
System Event Notification
NOTE: If you create a user account and then start the service by using that user account, the process will NOT be interactive because the service would run in a different user context from the logged on user.
