How do I add a tape drive?

A. Before you add a tape drive, you need to ensure that the correct SCSI driver is loaded for the card the tape drive is connected to. Then, perform the following steps.

  1. Start the Control Panel Tape Devices applet. (From the Start menu, select Settings, Control Panel, Tape Devices.)
  2. Click Detect for Windows NT to detect your tape drive. If this step is successful, go to Step 5.
  3. If you don’t detect the drive, select the Drivers tab.
  4. Click Add and select your tape drive from the list, or click Have Disk and select the driver’s location.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the computer.
