Systems management software developer Adaptive Computing has launched version 6.1 of its Moab Adaptive Computing Suite, bulking up the capabilities of what the company describes as its “cloud decision engine” to help equip enterprise IT professionals to operate more dynamic cloud environments.
The latest release of the platform is focused on accelerated workload management processes, event reporting, and mapping and management of service component relationships.
“We’re continuing to provide enhancements to our cloud system management product line, helping enterprises manage and automate their cloud offerings,” said Deborah Martin, director of product marketing for Adaptive Computing. “We’ve done more work around understanding ‘service-as-a-service’—managing services as a cohesive set.”
By providing tools that allow enterprises to manage the whole cloud stack, she said, the company’s platform can help enterprises steer clear of catastrophic moves that bring down the whole operation.
“Oftentimes you have changes to one or two resources, but making changes can lead to failure,” Martin said. “With this, when a change is being considered, it makes sure you’re managing the whole service.”
The new release of the platform also features enhancements in reporting capability to give enterprises more insight into what’s going on and providing a central view of all actions that have been taken, she said.
“It’s all around creating a much more dynamic environment and making sure it stays up and running in an automated fashion,” Martin said.
Overall, she said, Adaptive Computing has noted that enterprises are becoming far more educated about the management side of the cloud migration process and the state of operating in the cloud.
“They try and map out their whole strategy—they’re looking before leaping,” she said. “They want to not only reduce capacity cost and improve service delivery, they also want to reduce operating costs and improve SLAs. They’re realizing that a dynamic cloud is so much more important than a static cloud that only focuses on the service.”
