JSI Tip 3577. Windows 2000 NTBackup can't view or recognize a valid backup tape?

When you try to restore or view a NTBackup tape, or an SQL 2000 backup tape, on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, the tape is not recognized, and you can't view its' content. SQL Backup may display:

Operation on device "%tape device%" exceeded retry count: Restore HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally.

When you try to restore, you receive:

Place Media Tape Catalog Title into drive or library unit.

If you created the tape while running without the PAE option, you must restore without the PAE option.

Create an additional entry in boot.ini, without the /PAE switch, and you use it to restore any tapes created before you implemented PAE.
